And, as I said above, of course there's a difference. Men are only objectified in a joking manner because of their superior physical strength. The reality of the objectification of women sexually is rape, domestic violence and, at the milder end, unchecked misogyny.
Yes seriously. I see no difference.

Except one lot is male, the other female.

Cant have a problem with half naked ladies gyrating round the stage if you dont have the same problem with males doing the same thing. And JLS was just an example I plucked out of mid air tbh...

The bolded part made me giggle too. Who knew such double standards/sexism were still alive today

Now, how did I miss THIS one?

Who knew such ignorant populist bull**** was making a comeback? It is NOT the same thing and if you don't know that by now I wonder who fell down on your education and where.

Haha no need to get so personal

Course its the same thing. If you can get all uppity about women doing it, then you should be the same about blokes doing it.

There is an inherent physical threat around the sexual objectification of women that is simply non existent in the sexual objectification of men.
Most of the time we accept that tacitly and chose our limits and our viewing options. This **** should not be included in a family show.

patsy ... i thought that women did the sexy thing these days in a more empowered way you know with a **** you attitude feminist thing, I thought rhianna conveyed a lot more than tits and arse . These women arn't scantily clad backing singers for some cock of an r+b/rap star (I hate that and btw aphex twin window licker did a good job of sending it up, you tube it) these are successful independent women with talent. It's like a yeah i've got a beautiful body and a strong sexuality and I can express it and have the right not to be touched...half the world is dominated by men who force women to cover up and be in their place. rhianna had this real air of untouchable strength about her. karen capenter used to stand there covered from the neck down in a flowery shapless smock looking like she'd just just been let out of the kitchen for half an hour to sing a pretty song. I dunno about inherant physical threat...girls have the right to dress how they want in safety.

I was waiting for this one. What a load of unadulterated b***sh*t. I'm not directing that at you personally, you understand, but at this hackneyed justification which is exactly what the fat middle-aged men who run record companies want you to believe. It's c**p. For me, what's happening in women's pop music is almost as insidious as those societies where women are forced to cover up completely. Not quite, but almost. It's objectification and exploitation and people can shout 'prude' as long and as loud as they want. The truth hurts, sometimes.

well there are a lot of strong female role models for young girls out there these days dressed or undressed... from politicians to pop stars. Behavior towards women shouldn't have to depend on how they dress. Anyway Patsy I'm glad you are here expressing your self and if there were 2000 complaints that's a significant amount of strong opinion out there, and I respect that too. x
