Are we the only country that has the NHS? That is the only thing I worry about. If you get ill in this country usually your hospital bills are free because of the NHS! Plus we pay taxes and that so if I ever do get ill I hope I get treated fine after the tax I have to pay! In other countries you have to pay for your own hospital bills etc.. mmm.
I do quite like England. This weather is depressing though. I am lucky to live in a nice-ish area. That is probably why? Mmm.. maybe from October/November until about February/March time I should live somewhere warmer! Like the USA, France, Australia! Etc..! Last edited by Beastie; 20-12-2010 at 03:07 PM. |

Nothing in excess

Given the prospect of four and a half looooooooooooonnnnng years under this shitty coalition government, a near identical opposition party that represents fuck all, our decrepid, risible public transport system, a health service that is more than happy to leave you to die, a criminal justice system that lets off psycho thugs with a slap on the wrist, ridiculous housing costs, sky high cost of education, unemployment, overpopulation, rude noxious people (and no, that's not a typo) and its beer swilling simpleton culture, I would be delighted to leave the country if the opportunity arose.

Not sure. I don't see the problem with England myself. Okay, it's obviously going downhill because of the economy... but as people have said - we have free healthcare here.

i would never leave California unless i absolutely had to. Like if the Mexicans some how gain significant control and turn it into the same sh!thole as Mexico.
If thatdid happen, and i had to leave, then i'd move to Oregon. If Oregon went the same way, then i'd Move to Hawaii. If for some reason i absolutely HAD to leave the United States, then the only other country i could imagine living in is Australia, because they are so well Americanized. Canada is too cold and boring.

It's not that Americanised. It has more similarity with UK ![]() But still they have their own culture and ways, which is different from that of both UK and USA.

I think there are a a lot of similarities between Aussie and California culture. laid back, sunny, surfer/beach, stoner, liberal, hippies.
Many more similarities than with the UK culturally. Unless you mean the political system, which i guess is more UK-ized.

Because Americans don't want government death panels telling our doctors what to do and who to treat.
We'd much rather have corporations decide for us.

Obama's healthcare bill isn't universal healthcare. It was just a law that made it illegal not to buy insurance, and forced insurance companies to allow parents to keep their kids on their healthcare plan til the age of 26. It's still private health insurance.
The government isn't providing coverage for anyone new, you still have to buy private insurance. The government only pays for healthcare for Old people, Veterans, and of course... Congressmen.
