Default Youtube has sold out?

Would you say it's totally sold out? Vevo for one thing, plus other chans getting in there like 5 and C4 can't post anything without it being copyright.

Have the taken the YOU out of YOUtube?

It is for uploading 2 Madonna music video's when at the time WMG were removing her music videos and them 2 were not on the website. I am not uploading any videos anymore and none that include sound.

Google has took over it, Channel 4 joining it was pointless but it could of been amazing.

If Channel 4 had uploaded other Big Brother series instead of just half of BB8 it would of been amazing and it would of decreased other people uploading Big Brother.

But they have the cheek to bloody block Big Brother videos uploaded now, when Channel 4 have nothing or no say over Big Brother anymore.

The only person that has a right to block Big Brother now is Endemol so the fact C4 still think they can block whatever Big Brother clip they want, makes me laugh.

But yeah YouTube has went downhilll.

It's not for 'Broadcasting' yourself anymore, You do a vlog with a tune at the start and it's took down for copyrighting or the audio is disabled.

That's another thing you upload something and use a little tiny bit of audio from some song and the audio is disabled yet other people can upload the song and get away with it.

I remember they disabled my very successful account last year because I uploaded a 20 second South Park clip.

The account had over 2000 videos and I was always in the Top 50 Most Viewed in Ireland or The UK, Now my new account is sh*t.

I hate them.

well videos without sound are not much use.

Youtube is a buisness, a buisness needs to "sell out" to stay afloat, Vevo exists because of legal bull****

There was a boycot of buying music from fans of WMG artists from the likes of U2 and Madonna fans. Warner have allowed their offical videos to be uploaded but still do not allow fans to upload their own content [Though there are many ways to avoid it].

Youtube is as big as it is because it sold out. That is the reason it is still going. They still have to run the site like a bussiness. Even though i do think its nonsense with the ads and the deleting of peoples videos. Still, that is the way it is.

I think people for some reason expect companies like Youtube have a choice, they don't, they had to do the Vevo deal to bring music back to Youtube after a giant legal battle with the PRS

Vevo is insulting and save the polar ice caps and all of that but YouTube is still the most badass site on the internet. Let's stop pretending all those other hundreds of thousands of quality vlogs, clips and other videos don't exist and the entire thing is some giant corpotate nightmare. It's still a great site and it still gets me through the day and entertains my stoned ass.

The ads annoy me, I don't mind the written ones that show up on the videos (although they are kinda tacky), but the actual ads that play randomly before the music video you want.

Having said that it's still one of my fave sites on the net.

I think for a time it was all too good to be true. Now the commercial world has sucked it up just like it sucks up everything else that has a huge audience. The ads are a nuisance but I just download stuff from there that I want anyways. It's easier.

I like YouTube less and less these days and yes, I largely blame Vevo. Thanks to YouTube entering this partnership with UMG, UMG can now indiscriminately remove any music not just produced by their label, but even music distributed by them. This includes pretty much anything recorded for Decca. About half the videos on my classical music playlists have been wiped for this reason.

They are said to have removed a 27 second video of a child just because it was playing their music in the background and even made a thankfully unsuccessful attempt at wiping a video critical of Akon. Corporate pettiness and greed par excellance.

There is also the matter of UMG and Vevo bringing censorship of swearing and nudity to YouTube and the changes that have been made to the site's interface that I can only describe as unnecessary at best.

Sadly, there I don't think there is much that can be done about it as a general problem, but I do hope distributors like UMG can one day be legally stripped of their right to block content that, in actual fact, belongs to another label. Such a blatant imbalance of power in copyright enforcement is just unfair. Most record companies are happy to have their music on YouTube as it expands their market anyway.

YouTube have been pissing me off a lot recently with the TV style ads on videos.
