It was viral marketing for the new season of V.
The red rain. Seriously though, I do think there might me be a UFO/ET connection. Seriously. They are doing experiments to see if they can terraform our planet to suit them before the invasion. Seriously, if you were an alien that was gonna take over the planet, would you want pesky blackbirds crapping on yur nice shiney spaceships? I wouldn't.
