6 year old spray tan - to young or the right age to start?
firstly i would say, all get off you high horse, these weddings or Communions are not every day, they are a treat of course. yes the Gypsy's do have a laugh, there dress sense dose sometimes out rage, but the strictness of there rules, outside people can not Gage. we have so much to learn, its all about tradition, and that's why the spray tan debate, should be classed as a one of edition. don't judge and point the finger, learn and understand, that if we adopted a few of there ways, this just might not be a sinking depressing land. looking after your community, only goodness you are ploughing, that's what the UK is lacking, its why we are not flowering. (hi everyoneon tibb message board. dose anyone watch this great show i am talking about on ch4 called my big fat gypsy wedding ? well on the last show a 6 year old got a spray tan and it has caused such a whohaaaaaa it was even debated on the wrightstuff on ch5 this very morning. now i would not normally let a 6 year old get a spray tan but as i have seen what this community is about and there strong values i have no objections. just woundered what everyone else thought ? is 6 to young for a spray tan and should gypsy be in there own catorgry and not included in this poll ? ) |

You cant say it's fine for a Gypy kid to have a spray tan but not any other kid, that's just ridiculous double standards. It's not a "strong value" or a tradition of Gypsy communities and culture to have their kids tanned anyway. I dont think any 6 year olds should be wearing a fake tan but it's the parents decision I suppose.

Spray tan per se is pretty innocuous but it's the fact that it's being used to "beautify" little girls. The gypsy community has already shown itself to be extremely sexist (the "grabbing" tradition is repugnant), and it's no wonder gypsy women seem resigned to their fate at the age of 15 when they are encouraged at the age of 6 to be viewed as sex objects.

This. That little girl had great difficulty in walking in that absurd dress - never mind when she was in the Chapel and had to walk up the few 'stairs' on to the platformed altar - I was waiting for her going on her neck. No wonder the other little girls in their more traditional white Holy Communion dresses stood there watching her, with big grins on their faces. She looked ridiculous. The parents appear to have forgotten that it's a Holy Communion and not some bizarre and inane US style beauty pagent. If ever there was a way to single out a child and make them look very different from their classmates and help ostracise them - this was the perfect way to do it. Well they want to preserve their culture, but wearing ridiculous dresses to religious ceremonies won't help. Plus the after party could've been a kids disco anywhere. You wouldn't know they were travellers
