Anyway, i've made my point of view known, and the bigotry displayed in this thread has more than proven my point about old european ignorance. The same continent that brought the world the Spanish inquisition, the model to the world for justice... LOL
Meredith Kercher must be rolling in her grave.

The US exists DESPITE europe, not BECAUSE of it. Immigrants came here to ESCAPE europe, not to mimic it. Get it right. I know you Brits love to revise history for yur own means, but i won't stand for it.

and not a single one was executed by the US. You really need to learn about the US if you don't know the difference between a federal and state court.

The Furman decision left open the right of the states to bring back the death penalty after changes had been made and by 1977 the death penalty was reinstated into American law" Clearly the death penalty is still in use in the US, that is an undeniable fact |

Wikipedia:
"The United States federal government (in comparison to the separate states) applies the death penalty for certain crimes: treason, espionage, federal murder, large scale drug trafficking and attempting to kill a witness, juror, or court officer in certain cases. Military law allows execution of soldiers for several crimes. Executions by the federal government have been rare compared to those by state governments. Twenty-six federal (including military) executions have been carried out since 1950. Three of those (none of them military) have occurred in the modern post-Gregg era. This list only includes those executed under federal jurisdiction. The Federal Bureau of Prisons manages the housing and execution of federal death row prisoners. As of May 14, 2010 (2010 -05-14)[update], fifty-two people are on the federal death row for men at the Federal Correctional Complex in Terre Haute, Indiana; two women located at Federal Medical Center, Carswell in Fort Worth, Texas are on the federal death row" You're talking sh*t I'm afraid Last edited by MTVN; 05-02-2011 at 01:27 PM. |

So the people who carried out the executions were NOT Americans? Talk about disingenuous! You really don't have a leg to stand on |

Go look up the early history of the land you so proudly but misguidely boast about, in particular look at places like Jamestown Virginia. Another example is the victory of Yorktown, who was the Comte de Rochambeau and what was his army made up of? The list is endless, but go on I dare you. Oh by the way no answer to GTMO? |

Incidentally it ceased to exist as a settlement before 1700 quite a few years before the War of Independence. Its primarily that point that meant it provided excellent archaeological evidence about the early life of the colonies. all other colonies? I think not, try this article http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Loyalis...can_Revolution) Last edited by Shasown; 05-02-2011 at 02:44 PM. |

You really need to be careful about criticising other countries when European Immigrants to America (YOUR ancestors) were responsible for one of the most disgraceful genocides in history - that of the native American Indians. And how about Vietnam? Hardly covered yourselves in glory there did you?So get off your indignant, moral high horse and stop playing the race card - the last resort of someone on a losing argument The only reason Meredith Kercher will be rolling in her grave is if that murdering bitch is released, or has her sentence reduced. |

Is somebody suggesting Amanda Knox is innocent? I hope that's not what the film is going to play. Knox should rot in hell, murdering bitch.
And how many more threads are there going to be with lostalex having an argument about America? Last edited by Marsh.; 05-02-2011 at 04:39 PM. |
