I don't think Britain should really think of itself so highly anymore. We are a world power no longer - that time passed long ago. And I don't really think we let other nations walk all over us. :/
Militarily though I do think that we are quite strong as we have our nuclear defences and strong military. We also have the 3rd highest military expenditure in the world so I don't think out defences are that weak.
