Oh god.

It's started already, I expect we will see the words 'Sex Den' by the end of the week now.

I bet the words 'sex den, sex jacuzzi, sex room' will feature in that very article. Still BB is on the front page.

BIG Brother is coming back with a bang and it’s going to be bigger and better than ever!

Auditions are now open for the next generation of fans who dream of becoming the next Brian Dowling, Josie Gibson or Chantelle Houghton.

But what does it take to be the perfect Big Brother housemate – the one that makes us laugh, cry or fall in love with them?

And what qualities will take YOU from being a wannabe in the street to becoming the most famous reality star in Britain when the revamped show airs on Channel 5 in the summer?

NADINE LINGE and JENNIFER DUNKERLEY roped in a panel of experts to give us their verdicts.

Last year’s winner Josie Gibson

“Just be yourself, that’s the main thing. Don’t try to be anything else because everyone will see straight through it. Don’t try too hard to play the game, just do it for the experience. Don’t apply if you just want to be famous.

“For me, I felt the early auditions were just the luck of the draw. I didn’t try to stand out from the crowd. I talked about myself, my experiences and what I found funny. Don’t lie!

“Why do I think I was so popular? I really don’t know and I ask myself that every day. To be honest I forgot about the cameras and just enjoyed it. Some people fell out over who was playing a game or who was out to cause trouble, but I didn’t care about any of that.

“I don’t take myself too seriously. Don’t get me wrong, though, if someone annoyed me I would confront them about it because it’s not in my personality to hold things in.

“If you get homesick don’t apply because it won’t get easier. I love wacky people, they make me laugh, so stick some of them in and of course some hot men. Viewers always like a romance. But my piece of advice on that front would be don’t try to rush things.

“For me, our year was so successful because everyone had a laugh and was funny. Some people like watching arguments but I don’t. I think seeing funny people having a good time is much better.”

There’s Something About Josie starts on Channel 5, May 9, at 10pm.

Ex-Big Brother host and super-fan Davina McCall

“If I was auditioning, I’d impress Big Brother within the first 10 seconds. You’ve got to do or say something or be different enough for them to say: ‘Oh, you’re interesting.’

“When you get in there, hang back for a couple of weeks and get to know people. Watch a little bit from outside and let all the big characters annoy everybody.

“I always think the people who are really loud at the beginning are the first out.

“I hate people who run around talking to the cameras all the time. I don’t want you to start having a commentary with Big Brother

“Don’t be too much of a peacekeeper. If there’s a stonking argument going on, don’t go in and break it up. I do quite enjoy watching something and see it resolve itself.

“And the other really important thing is, use the diary room. A lot.

“You get a dynamic in the diary room. When someone’s looking down the lens, you feel connected to that housemate. And the public need to feel connected to you if you’re going to win it.

“And have a reason to be in there, rather than just being a wannabe.”

Big Brother behaviour analyst Judi James

“Looks-wise, you’ll need to be televisual but not too gorgeous, as the real lookers tend to get voted out early.

“So if you’ve got model looks you’ll need to have a tomboy side like Kate Lawler or show a complete lack of vanity like Sophie Read.

“Anyone who says, ‘I’m just being myself’ is seen as a performer and liar, as is anyone who speaks about themselves in the third person. The audience is smart and spots a phoney a mile off.

“Whingers go early, as do serial weepers or anyone who keeps saying they want to go home.

“A lot of viewers have dreamed of being a contestant and resent anyone who gets in there and wastes their place by moaning.

“Heroic moments, when a housemate stands up for someone else can turn the votes in their favour.

“Sexy is good but sex is not because the minute you succumb you’re out on your ear. Viewers love genuine flirting and they might enjoy some illicit passion but BB winners don’t do actual sex to camera!

“But the most important skill is to be funny. Being funny, like both Brians and Josie, is a massive asset as it helps you become friends with the audience, meaning they care what happens to you.”

Judi is the author of Being Confident, out now on Vermillion.

BB winner in 2007 Brian Belo

“We need a proper sexy year. I want girls where I think: ‘She’s hot.’

“I want people to get together and I think you should have people in there who you’d want as your mates. You need decent, normal people because there have been so many freaks in there before.

“We’ve got to look at Big Brother *differently to how we looked at it 10 years ago. EastEnders runs for 10million years so why the hell can’t Big Brother?

“It’s real people, telling real stories.”

Daily Star TV editor, who’s covered BB from Day One Peter Dyke

“In the audition, do something or tell the interviewers something that will make them remember you and invite you back. But it’s important to have layers as well.

“If you’ve got a party trick or love flashing your boobs, don’t do that too early and be left with nothing else to show people.

“Once in the house get *viewers on your side in the diary room.

“Don’t just talk about being a *certain way, just do it. If you’re going to be a bitch, then be a bitch.

“You’ve got to be able to laugh at yourself. Remember, BB is a game show like any other.

“And most importantly, if you’re going to get naked make sure you’ve got the body for it!”

PR guru Mark Borkowski

“You’ve got to be a loud character and a fame junkie. You have to go into the show because you enjoy it, rather than because you want to get something out of it or become a celebrity.

“The people who win are those who manage to be real and authentic, as viewers can pick up on when you’re playing a role.

“Also make sure you’ve got a good, trustworthy set of friends around who won’t sell stories about you when you’re in the house, or reveal things about your personality that you would rather not come out.

“But remember, housemates come in all shapes, sizes and from different backgrounds. With Big Brother, anyone’s got a chance of getting in.”

A source at Channel 5

“We are looking for housemates the viewers will love simply for having fun and being themselves. They have to be entertaining, lively and most importantly honest, not play actors or show-offs.

"Our search is to find the best set of housemates the public have seen to date.”

HOW TO APPLY

It's basically what Davina said on the youtube channel over a year ago and what the others said on OK! TV about 3 months ago.

Quote:

And I swear we hear this every year and I've not been impressed for 5 years. If they don't big it up we might enjoy it more.

Hands up. Does anyone actually dream of being any of those people?

Josie, you weren't popular - barely anyone likes you; you bint. The only reason you won with such a high percentage is because the BB11 final was a complete joke.
Had Sam, Corin and John James of still been in that final - You would of finished 3rd.

Now ****** off back to the farm Josie.

While it wasn't the biggest or best yet, it was easily the best since 7 and imo the best since 5, despite the flat atmosphere. It was BB back to basics but with bigger characters.

I really enjoyed BB10. When it finished I thought it was the best one yet. Things like a cheap house didn't bother me. As long as you've got a group of big characters that's all that matters.

On topic- actually a pretty good article.

Ex-Big Brother host and super-fan Davina McCall

Stupid Davina.. everyone who's auditioned for the past 2 years has taken this advice. Hence why bb10 and bb11 were sh!t. Most of them just held back and sailed through to the final.

No. No one should sit around or be quiet!! EVERYONE entertaining, opinionated and off their smelly big, fat, hairy arse!!

And hopefully they will be awake for at least 20 hours a day!

Amen!

BB10 housemates were amazing, there was more drama/arguements in the first couple of weeks than in the whole of BB11.

Anyway, Its a shame that what she is saying is actually right.

Big characters would have to tone themeselves down just so they dont get evicted early on its pathetic.

Hopefully C5 will do what C4 could never do and get a whole house full of entertaining characters so we're not left with the dullards who sail through to the end.

But like I said.. if there is explicit gameplaying involved. EVERYONE taking a part in a task for SURVIVAL then NO ONE will be "under the radar".

Yeah BB10 had an amazing Week 1. Saffia and Sophia were both brilliant characters. But they were both evicted/walked in Week 1.

Games and tasks being involved for all the housemates will seperate the interesting, entertaining, selfish ones.. to the lazy, boring, beached whale bastards.
