I can't speak for anyone else, but that's not entirely what I mean. What I mean by backstabbing is that they will say one thing to your face, but then discuss the 'subject' in a totally different light to others behind your back.

The ones that are all sweetness and light, ones that you think you can trust, only to find that what was meant to be discussed in private between both of you, you find that in fact, not only do they betray that trust, they revel in the fact that you did trust them, and they then revel in telling others when revealing all behind your back. It happens in work, play and rest!

"Man speak with forked tongue" (in this case, woman!!). Men can be sometimes as bad - though my experience is that women are worse at this type of thing.

Maybe you and I have different standards for meanness. Men can be saddistic also but maybe in different ways. For example, if I woke up one morning and discovered that my house had been egged I would be stunned if a girl had done it. Guys are mean in ways that incorporate the physical and, to me, that's more mean than the verbal he said she said stuff.
