I've got the cynical head on.
To be honest: I'm in the minority here. I think the ban list should be only for perma bans.
I'll use me as an example: I tend to be a feisty poster, who will fight my corner as and when.
Some may regard me as being argumentative, when my own perspective is that will put my opinions up, possibly in a blunt, no nonsense way: and that is a posting style some simply do not like or appreciate.
If I was temp banned and the reason for my ban was posted: that would give other members with whom I do not get on with at all, a reason to try then to deliberately 'antagonise' with their own replies to any posts I make - knowing that I will defend and debate till the cows come home..... and when they feel it's time - they can hit the report button citing 'being argumentative' - when it may not necessarily the case.
But as I have been seen as being so on the ban list: it could be any easy way of being 'targeted' (for want of a better word) with no other reason than to be able to hit the 'report' button on me - due to more a personality clash, rather than any valid 'rule break'.
It also gives rise to 'chums' then possibly ganging up on who they think got their pal banned etc, causing unnecessary friction on the forum - making things very personal.
For that reason, I think the ban list should be there only for permabans.
If people are that chummy with each other: they will have each others email addresses/ msn/ other means of contacting the temp banned member to establish how long they were banned for.
