I think the best chance of keeping it going is to have it back on TV this year as has been decided and keep some continuity going. Channel 5 will not expect the ratings it got on Channel 4 but I have no doubt BB will be their biggest ratinngs series.
In the end I think Channel 4 were worried as to complaints and all the hassle, they would have interfered with production so much it would have been further run down.

But why Channel 5? It is NOT a good channel for this sort of show. You can see it is going to fail already. What in my opinion should of happened is take it off for a year or 2 and just review it from the Channel 4 producers, see what you can do with it and what to improve. Bring it back and see what happens.
Review what housemates you put in, try to change a good number of things on the show.
Lets remember what happened with CBB, it went off TV and came back and the last CBB series was fantastic and i thought entertaining. So it did put some light back into the show. Perhaps the same might happen with BB.
