Because Channel 5s expectancy of ratings and therefore success are far lower than BBC,ITV and Channel 4s.
Success on Channel 5 will only need 1.5 to 2 million viewers, I think they will get that and that will be seen as a great success for Channel 5, I have little doubt that BB will, for the next 2 years at least, be the biggest rated thing on Channel 5, they will not then want to lose any of that in the future.
It will also bring in far more lucrative advertising to Channel 5 and BB will also be a great vehicle for placement advertising too. On paper, it really cannot fail on Channel 5, it already was on Channel 4.
