It was always going to happen, there was probably some legal stuff behind her leaving that meant she needed some money. And the NOTW is part of a large organisation so it's to be expected.

Maybe they're angry because she was in charge of a newspaper that hacked their murdered daughters phone in order to get a juicy story to print in their rag. And Rebecca Brookes denied any knowledge of it. Now, having done the decent thing and resigned, she's getting a multi-million pound windfall. Sound fair?

If she really didn't know what was going on at her own newspaper, she should have been sacked. If she did know it was happening, she should have been sacked. Whichever way you look at it, her being awarded £3.5m is a slap in the face not only to the victims of the phone hacking scandal, but also to the people at NOTW who had nothing to do with the hacking and lost their jobs anyway. How much do we think those people will be getting?
