Default TiBB Photography Competition >> Round 4 - Semi-Final [Results Posted]


Welcome to the Semi-Final of the TiBB Photography Competition 2011! We have 3 contestants left - in this round, one will fall at the final hurdle as two will remain to fight it out in the final next week.

For this week, the semi-finalists were given two themes - Technology and Summer. Here is what they came up with!

Theme 1: Technology


Inspiration: I was looking through my DVD's and i had my iPod on and i thought about the Technology Theme! CD's and DVD'S Are Tech, And so is the iPod lead ect.

Theme 2: Summer


Name: Distant Sunset
Inspiration: I was down a beach near me and it was Sunset. It was Summer and i just couldn't resist. The Sun is just so amazing. It's Summer. It's Warm. It's Colourful!

Theme 1: Technology


Inspiration: Vehicles rely highly on technology - be it for the manufacture of the parts or for the actual systems in them. We live near a hidden scrap yard and when nobody was around I snuck in and came across this old broken tractor which I thought fitted the theme perfectly! I made the photo sepia to help give the tractor an aging rusty character.

Theme 2: Summer


Inspiration: First things that jump to mind when I think of summer are blue skies and a sandy beach. However not living close to the coast I had to think more about the theme and the environment around me. Then it hit me, loads of wheat/barley fields are grown in summer! I managed to capture the bright blue sky to help scream summer and the different heights, widths and depth of the individual wheat/barley in the photo make it more interesting.

Theme 1: Technology


Name: Disc-uss. (cringe)
Inspiration: Well I think the refraction of light or whatever on earth the technical term for it is, on the reverse of a CD, makes for a pleasant burst of colour so I decided to seek that out.

Theme 2: Summer


Name: My view
Inspiration: It's the view from my front door I thankfully got a burst of summer yesterday


Voting Details

The contestants the forum members and judges will be voting for this week are:

Shaun

Forum members voting = rank the photos from both sets this week in order of preference; a top 3 for the Technology theme, and a top 3 for the Summer theme (eg. 1st = Favourite - 2nd - 3rd = Least favourite)

Judges voting = Rate each photo out of 20, giving points to these 3 aspects of the photo - Originality (up to 5 points) Sticking to the theme (up to 5 points) and Overall quality of the photo (up to 10 points).

Votes must be sent to me via PM. Judges and forum members are welcome to comment on the photos here, but don't give away who you are voting for. Voting will close tomorrow evening at 6PM.

I think everybody's photos are really good this week! Jarod's summer photo is great quality but Im sure youve used a sun picture before

Really enjoyed the comp so far and trying to be as original as I can, actually developed a slight interest in photography
