Admittedly you cannot get a 100% accurate picture of HM's with the LF but the whole point of the feed was to be able get to know the housemates better and interact on a deeper level. Watching CBB at present and I cannot even feel like I know any of the HM's , even on a superficial level. This new format is not working for me and from other FM's I see similar feelings and comments.

I'll stay with CBB for now but I won't be voting and when BB12 screens I'll give it a go but I cannot in all honesty say I will stick with it.

CH5 really have let the fans down and I hope they are happy with the show they have at present but I can see that the ratings may well slip very quickly.

Yeah, it we think it's hard knowing them without LF now, gonna be 10X harder with the normal series. Plus it's a lot longer so it will just become more fustrating if it seems scripted

I agree it is harder to know them and it takes longer to get to know, especially with the shorter CBB format, but with the long BB format there are still hours and hours of coverage.

Playing devils advocate for a second, in 12 weeks you will end up watching over 80 hours of television. That is about 20 hours less than watching Eastenders for a year. It's not like you don't know the characters in Eastenders and people don't demand a live feed of the soaps!

Guess it depends if they choose any "stars" of the show and concentrate on them if you get me. Like BB11 with John and Josie, but luckily we had LF then lol

That's true, I basically just watched the highlights in BB11 but I still felt I knew the housemates pretty well

How much of getting to know them did you get from the forums, news articles online or newspapers? its really shortsighted to say that because so much of the BB chatter came from the live feed.

Are people really willing to dumb down to the point where they accept that a housemate must of packed a wedding dress in their suitcase? or is it more logical that a daily meeting was held with producers and the people in there and it was suggested to them?

I watched the whole of BB11 (just the highlights shows) without the forum. I don't buy newspapers and I can't remember reading them on line as I get most of my news from the BBC website or BBC 5 live. I never felt I didn't know the people in the house. Yes it might have taken longer to get to know them but it didn't make me feel disappointed and I didn't know their characters.

Yes the live feed generates a lot of chatter and banter on here during the day, but the site is at it's busiest when the highlights show is on, because that is what most people watch.

You also have to remember that Channel 5 will know uptake of the live feed from Channel 4. They will have data on how many people brought into the feed and how many people watched it and when. They will then have weighed the income against the cost of providing the service. If there is no clear profit there is no feed.

Now I why I want Channel 5 to come clean is that there is probably a simple answer to why they are not providing it. I still think that providing a live feed would require investment in networking infrastructure that isn't in place. The cost of investment makes it uneconomic to provide the feed when the company has little use for it after BB has come off the air. If this is the case and they come clean then other companies who have the networking infrastructure already in place might come forward to provide the feed for them at a price, however they won't while Channel 5 is in cover up mode.

I agree with all of this. I never watched live feed and I honestly didn't realise how much stuff I picked up only from the forum. You've only got to see how the forum's died down to realise not having live feed has had a really negative impact. If they don't bring it back for the non-celeb BB, I think it'll be the death knell for the whole show.
