You can still do that and be true to yourself, which is what I think he's done. I do think he's able to read situations and use things to his advantage but I don't think that makes him fake. All of them do that to some extent I believe, it's only human nature.

I agree with you that is possible to play the game and still be true to yourself but it's inevitable that many people will question whether he's being fake or not when he admitted to be playing the game and one of the ways you can play it is by acting in a way you think the viewers will like.
