Even on the interviews on Monday, Lorraine and This morning they were speculating who would be in the bottom 2 and why wasn't it now just down to the public vote.

Nothing was said from the X Factor team about it until Wednesday when they announced that this weeks semi final vote as to who gets to the final,it has been decided that all will 'now be decided by the public only'.

People expected that like in any other year it would be decided by the public only but when no announcement came from Dermot or the Judges as to that fact, speculation mounted that there was going to be another sing off, hence the announcement midweek of what was termed as the 'decision to make the vote for the finalists to be only by the public vote'.

The public also in previous years, used to until last year or two also decide who went through to the semi finals from the quarter finals, that changed in the last 2 years,it would seem they were trying to stop it being a public vote only in the semi finals too this year but decided against doing so midweek though not last Saturday or Sunday.
It appears if there is a sing-off, it's a 'fix', and if there isn't a sing-off, it's still a 'fix'. They can't win...how stupid.

You've basically just proven what I said in my last post. This isn't the case at all, there were sing-offs with five acts left in both series 1 and 3, as well as this year. Last year there was a sing-off in the semi-final because there were five acts left, and so as I said it appears this may be the format they're going to stick to from now on. But it is not 'new' and it is not a 'fix', it's been done before, yet people seem to forget this.

The difference between last years and series 1 and 3 with the final 5 bottom two was that Dermot and the ITV official website said that it was gonna be the one with the least votes gets eliminated, yet when Cher came bottom of the votes it was a bottom two.

Very valid point, they should do what Strictly has now and eliminate this nonsense once and for all. From the live shows starting on Strictly, it is now only the public who decide who stays and goes,no dance off.

Time X Factor did the same to stop this 'guiding' of results. No need for midweek announcements either, you believed there was bottom 2 and so did lots of others,I couldn't understand why we hadn't been told it was only the public vote that decided the finalists as in other years, as I said in posts above, Jeff Brazier, Danyl and the presenters were speculating who would be in the bottom 2, also why was it not the public only deciding the result this week,

Despite having a 90 minute programme Saturday, and a further 1 hour programme on Sunday plus an hour each night of Xtra Factor too, no one said that the semi finals would be decided by the public only, they 'had' to make an announcement midweek saying it had been decided that 'there would be no sing off in the semi final and that it would be the public vote only that decided the finalists'.

It's time these programme planners starting treating the voting public with a bit more decency and keep them informed of what is happening week by week and stop treating us like mushrooms, keeping us in the dark and shovelling ..... at us.
