I feel this is the bigger picture. Michael has stood up infront of the people he has been living with and has emotional attachments with and not to mention the whole of the UK and called her 'mentally disturbed'. Michael is seriously detached from reality if he thinks this is ok in context. He complains about people whispering behind peoples backs but in the whole of the show nobody has said anything as bad as that.... and it wasnt even behind her back! How can you recover any relationship with actions like that? No wonder wars start with people like Michael around.

Michaels character is a one man army so I can understand why he has such a narrow mindset. He just sits and thinks by himself conjuring up what he thinks is happening. Most people have friends to talk to and discuss things which creates emotional attachments and bonding. Michael rarely interacts like this and has therefore created social suicide in the house.
