I hate them all. They're like swearing in that, if they were used cleverly and occasionally for shock value or for humour they'd be okay. But in my opinion they're overused. Nothing makes someone's post look more ridiculous, unstable and frantic than a row of smiley cheerleaders, dancing smilies or pink elephants.
I used to call Kerry the Queen of the Emoticons because she always had the right one for the right occasion and had me in stitches with them sometimes. Sigh.
