Rehabilitation is important, as are human rights. As disgusting and foul as some crimes are, it's important that the mental health of these criminals are looked into not only so that they are not a danger to themselves or others, but in order for us to try and understand more about the causes of these types of crimes. It's all very well and good to start screaming and wailing about 'banging them up' and 'throwing away the key', but there's more to it than that I'm afraid.
Im sorry but human rights are taken away from these people once they **** with innocent peoples rights.

Also rehabilitation very rarely works, also these scumbags know what they're doing is wrong so they should be sentenced to life in prison if the justice system was competent enough.

I agree jf, I have lost all patience with these vile people who prey on children.
These sick, vile perverse 'people'? don't even care about a childs dignity or feelings, never mind their human rights.

I agree with the second part of your post, but to suggest that someone's human rights should be void after committing a crime even of this magnitude is a pretty dangerous attitude to have. I'm not saying I condone what this guy did, but every person in this world, no matter how awful their past actions, deserves to be treated with the same decency as any other human being.

No they should have the basic human rights, im on about where they are not allowed to be punished at all and get PS3's for free and free TV's.

Oh. Sorry I thought you meant remove their rights completely! I agree with you in that respect, yeah.

As Niall said, that's a dangerous attitude to have. Try abolishing human rights laws and let's see what kind of state we put ourselves in then.

Human rights are and should always be an entitlement, not something you earn. That's the kind of world we need to ensure we live in. It's a common misconception that believing in that and striving to aim for it means we advocate certain crimes, justify them or shy away from the problems, but that's totally wrong. You can find a crime disgusting and hope for a suitable punishment, but ensuring the human rights of all involved, are protected is important.

Old medicines and treatments for illnesses didn't use to work, and then they found a solution. Science is all progress and at some point there will no doubt be ways of solving even more serious problems such as these, if not solving them at least treating them better than we ever could now. To just point blank assume that nothing will ever work, and just simply give up instead of wishing to put time, money and effort into working towards helping these social issues is simply ludicrous if you ask me. And at the end of the day, whether you agree or disagree with it, one day most of these criminals will be released, and so surely it's better for them to have at least tried to be rehabilitated, rather than just given up on? No?

And I take issue with 'knowing what they're doing is wrong'. Most do, not all. Again, it's not a 100% thing.
