I think feminists get represented as man-hating, miserable battleaxes with no sense of humour. It's very easy to portray them as such in a male-dominated media, at least. But there are inequalities and injustices (moreso around the world than here) that have to be tackled.
That said, I disagree with artificial equality. Quotas and all that jazz. Candidacy for any place of employment, if equal, should be irrespective of gender.
But I do generally resent the idea of feminism as a dirty word, or a belief that's somehow fuelled by rage and gossip. There are a great deal of minor quibs held by the majority of the people that confuse me... one that often gets brought up here at university is the idea of promiscuity, and the apparent ease with which men are deemed "lads" and women "sluts". It's not right. People just...judge too much.

A rare thing to say Shaun, but I agree with just about everything you have said above.
Especially the part I've bolded - sad to see it still going on so very recently....you'd think that once a member was permabanned, that members could lay off them - and cease the whole
''lets laugh at the banned member doing x/y/z'' and dredging up the past. Very easy to do when someone no longer has the right to reply.
Point in case below.
