Yes he did right ,and Luke soon wiped the smirk off Deanas face when she summoned him in front of others in smoking area, he made he looks small and silly

...but he didn't know about it. He went into the Diary Room fuming (which wasn't shown) and as we saw with his talk with Arron in the Bedroom, he wasn't happy about it. I know you keep saying that Arron did the right thing, but he only did the right thing for himself. He got caught and when he gets caught, he just backtracks like no other. He was saying he didn't want to cause an argument, but then by the end of it he was saying that he only heard about it at night and didn't know who did it (when he was right there when Benedict did it.) He's just trying to cover his own ass, it's hardly the right thing. It's just like the argument between him and Lydia at breakfast after Benedict talked to him. He backtracked like no other and looked like a fool.
