we appear far more narrow minded in the way we treat americans....the americans ive known over the years have been polite friendly and gregarious....the constant anti american drivel wore thin decades ago...we neeed to broaden our minds...this thread was definitely worthwhile as it has shown chuff me dozzy for exactly the type of person he is

9/10 the public will vote someone inoffensive to win, looking at recent examples of American housemates they've all been fairly divisive. The twins and Tara Reid were painted as bitches, Micheal Madsen was a Marmite housemate and the Baywatch woman (can't remember her name for the life of me) was just a little too eccentric to last too long. If it wasn't for the race row then Jermaine Jackson would have easily won that CBB for example because he was likable and inoffensive.

It's to do with personality rather then nationality.

I think some people believe that BBUK should be just for people who are from the UK like some believe Britains got talent should be for people only from GB.

We have had some good American housemates who have brought a lot of entertainment & thats what should count.

politically correct nonsense. the brits gang up on the yanks every time as do the studio audiences, we are getting far more parochial narrow minded and xenophobic against certain nationalities and america is top of the list

Well that's too bad, I'm from America...guess I know not to take you seriously now

Btw, if I had the choice I'd go on the UK's BB NOT for fame reasons, but because I think it'd be a better experience than the US's.

You'd be hard pressed to scrape up many Americans who consider the UK the "motherland". Perhaps that perception is part of the problem. The majority of Americans, statistically, have no tie to the UK at all. They're more likely to be a mix of German, eastern European, Italian, etc, and those of us who can trace our history here back to before it was an independent country are a minority.

Aside from a fringe of people with a bizarre obsession with the royals, the truth is the UK is pretty much a non-entity outside Dr. Who, Monty Python, and Top Gear. In other words, it's Mostly Harmless.

I usually like the American HMs, Karissa & Kristina were my favourites last year and Michael Madsen was a close second, Coolio was brilliant too. Adam is my favourite this year .........then again I'm not British though

I want adam to win but will being american or sounding american will mean its very unlikely as the english dont seem to vote for americans to win english reality tv shows....they actually voted for jade goodys ex husband to beat vanilla ice on the farm..darnell was ok cant remember who beat him, dirk benedict was awesome he was booted out, jermaine jackson class act, out, dennis rodman, tracy bingham who was very nice, the legend that is michael madsen lost to denise welch (the lowest point in BB history in my opinion) etc

etc .someone also beat david guest on celebrity in the jungle and huggy bear was also booted....the list goes on, no american has ever won any realty show in england
nothing is more guaranteed to get a cheap laugh for a dumbed down manipulated studio audience than an anti american cliche, oh they dont get ironic sense of humour says the likes of pete burns? the irony is, he doesnt know what irony is, he demands people treat people as individuals and then he calls (several times) for all americans to be banned from future shows? and the audience cheers? was he joking? I dont think so

no american winners?coincidence with other worthy winners? or something deeper? how can adam break the duck?

No I think a American can win
like if Charlie Sheen went in
he would be up for a chance to Win the Celeb version.

Many Americans they get are B list
thats the problem.

We are not anti American...

There may be some who think a British TV show should have a British winner, but for the most part I think people simply support an individual based on their personality. There are of course those who support someone on Big Brother if they happen to come from their own town/city/region, so they will obviously have more support than a foreign person. But as has been pointed out Nadia won Big Brother & she was from Madeira...

I always assumed the British public was anti american but then again there haven't been any great Americans to go into the BB house. Most of them I wouldn't even vote for despite being American myself. But when you leave voting open to the public whether it be the American public or the UK public they get it wrong quite often. Most of the time they vote to save the least offense or "most normal" person not the person that makes for good t.v. That being said there are going to be prejudicial people voting no matter what. That's why a lot of my favorite reality shows have very little fan voting. I think the only shows I watch that let the fans vote for the winner is BBUK and The Voice.
