From what I gather, she doesn't want to show her real self because she really cares about what her family thinks. For instance, when Adam gave her a hug a long time ago, she kept saying "my mother is going to kill me." Deana is constantly thinking of how she's perceived on the outside and is trying to behave in a way where she won't get backlash from her family. But this does not allow her to be "real" like she claims she's being.

Also, my friend told me that people who enter the Miss Indian Canada competition do so in the hopes of getting to Bollywood. I'm not sure if that's what she's trying to do as well...

That's exactly what she's there for - she's played the Shilpa Shetty role from the very beginning.

1. Entrance outfit - Shilpa wore something very similar. Crass Deana had to one-up and talk about the price.
2. Talked about her servants in India - who does that considering every middle class family in India has servants. It's no big deal.
3. Accuses Chris of being a racist in the first week because she felt he did not like her

Deana is so into her image and I think her appearance on the show is an absolute farce. In week 1, she talked about how hard it will be for her not to wear a bathing suit. That means she normally wears one but is trying to portray some fake image.

She was born and raised in Britain but moved to India within the past year to pursue acting. She's too fake for words and I can't stand her.
