Of course it is. You're winning it just like that. You haven't had to work for it, and it's not going on bills/other payments like a year wage would. It's enough for a deposit on a house, and it makes you alot more flexible to do the stuff you want.

Put all your Conor hate to the side for the minute and imagine if you won 50k just like that. I bet all your answers would be very different.

Does he have a job? they will add the prize to his earnings and calculate on that. At most he'll have 30K, who knows.

To me life changing means you can give up work. I don't think you can do this on 50K.
Does he have any work to give up?

No not rich at all. Just been around long enough to know that 50K wouldn't last long and if put down on a deposit for a house (as Conor wants) it just means you're tied to your job.

He won't have a job that rakes in that kind of money and I doubt the prize money is taxed. It isn't in most TV shows

I'd probably use it to see the world, get a car and furnish the house nicely... so I guess it'd kinda life-changing

There are some very poor people in London. It's not all Hampstead and Knightsbridge!

Ł50k would allow you to train to do something you really loved doing, so yes, it could be life-changing if your life needed changing.

It personally would change my life if I had 50k at one time.

I could get myself a deposit on a house, get a car etc... it'd set me up for a bit and that is all I could ask for.

I guess it depends what stage you're at in life. As students most of us had jack **** after buying books and all other costs. So yeah I get what you're saying.

50 grand, and it will be tax free, would go a long way for most people, our mortgage is all but paid, but 50 grand would still be welcome, buy us a nice caravan.
