Your recurring theme of trying to exhibit a high degree of knowledge in terms of viewing figures resumes its constant theme of embarrassment.
You absolutely cannot compare viewing figures from January to August. You absolutely cannot choose to pick up any old viewing figures from a particular time and then go on to compare them to another time.
So far it seems you have nothing to say for the fact that it is always colder and darker in January? Nothing to say that we can thus work out that more people are likely to be indoors at this time? Nothing to say for the fact that people are more likely to be outside
having a life during the summer and aren't likely to be sat around waiting for CBB - or any other television show - to come on? Nothing to say that people can easily catch up with their shows should they choose to do so? Do you understand that ratings are not black and white? Has it ever occurred to you that people may be on holiday during the summer, which would perhaps compensate for and explain a significant yet obvious drop in viewing figures?
I would suggest you post some statistics to prove your argument and when I mean statistics I'm not talking about your interpretation which you will have no doubt subverted to suit your biased agenda but hard, obvious data.
It's a proven fact that people are more likely to be indoors watching television in January, kid. I would really suggest you research viewing figures in depth before forming your conclusions.
From BARB:
http://www.barb.co.uk/graph/weekly-viewing?_s=4
As you can see, there tend to be peaks in general television viewership on the two extremes of the x-axis on the graph, with annual, inevitable drops in the middle section ... which would perhaps denote less viewership? In fact it denotes
the least viewership throughout the year?
Is it not dark by 19.30 in January? Is it not cold enough to be confined to your own house throughout the month anyway and find a way of entertaining yourself - most probably through television, of which 20 million households in the UK alone posses?
Ever heard of photoperiodism? Vernal equinox? Summer solstice? Autumnal equinox? Winter solstice? Notice that the two extremes are given the label
solstice and not
equinox - which renders your point even more insignificant and a ludicrous comparison to make?
http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgur...9QEwAA&dur=351
See how January has approximately 14.8 hours of darkness as opposed to August, which can barely scrape 10? So mathematically speaking January gets
at least 1.48 times more night than August? Not to mention all the people on holiday at this time? Not to mention the fact 2/3 of the people who go on holiday yearly in the UK alone go between 25 June and 31 August?
Incidentally, have a look at CBB8 and CBB9 versions - both at extremes in season - and see if the ratings were even
remotely similar. No? Are they not?
And that's me done with you. You will undoubtedly find some way to dismiss and completely miss the idea - or should I say
purportedly claim to do this - and spout the same ill-informed bull that you've spouted throughout this thread, which makes arguing with you as ludicrous as the arguments you present.
You will no doubt completely ignore the statistics and arguments I provide you and go on to insult other members who are educated in this field - and by the way isn't that rather hypocritical considering you allegedly reported me for insulting you the other day, of which I still haven't been infracted for yet? Ooops.
HOPE THIS CLEARS UP EVERYTHING FOR YOU.
Er ... yeah. Take that.
