I don't hate him at all, I think he has a good voice but not a great commercial voice. I also felt he did the least with Elton's song he sang tonight compared to near all the others.
I wouldn't pay to see a concert of his and also would be unlikely to buy a CD of him really,so for me, he does nothing much for me and I am surprised he is so popular there.
We don't know that for sure though, true,he hasn't been in the bottom 2 yet but that doesn't mean he isn't possibly the 3rd or 4th act from the last placed act each week either.

I can see him getting modest success with a well publicised/advertised album of covers of songs then doing nothing much after that.

A cruise ship audience is probably only a few hundred max, it's still a bit different to performing knowing that there's millions watching, plus there's a lot more pressure singing on XF than there is doing a few songs on a cruise ship

I do agree 100% there, the cruise ships are captive audiences too as well as being a great deal smaller.
As you say they are a world away from appearing not only on X Factor in front of such a large audience but also the fact he is on TV too.
