I do think the police are terrified of any bad press, that has gone some way to explaining why the abuses discovered in Rochdale were allowed to fester as long as they were.
There are people hammering home the message that most sexual abuse cases are by white males, however when you consider that the men involved in these cases are in an ethnic minority group who account for only 8% of the population, then the proportionality shows that there is a problem.
