Ben is exactly the same in real life as he was in the house. Totally genuine.
Hearing people say that Sam must be gay for not fancying Lacey reminds me of being back in High School. Its a very childish view, like something a 14 year old boy would say to one of his mates. Maybe Sam likes blondes or red heads over brunettes ? Of edgy, quirky girls rather than samey glamour mode types?
