I am also hard of hearing, and I totally get that it's hard to get involved in group discussions. Everyone is talking over each other, it's hard to be able to lip read everybody, and it takes time to process what people say. Also, he probably does not want to have to say pardon 5 times (It's so awkward. So awkward.)
Also, he probably says weird things just so that people laugh, and to show he has a sense of humour. People tend to assume you are a special snowflake if you are hard of hearing, so he is probably trying to prove that he is normal.
I am supporting him, just because I want to be an actress and I'm hard of hearing and he is raising awareness of the cause.:P We need deaf role models in the media, and he could provide that if he gains confidence with people.
(I also wonder how many packets of hearing aid batteries he brought because when you are wearing your aids all day, the battery drains so fast. If he has to go to the diary room like, "Can I have some more batteries?" I would feel so sorry for him

Also hearing aid batteries go at the worst times, so if I was him, I would change his batteries before eviction night because no one wants to be the one who has to sit there going "Wut" when they announce who is going home.)
