He said several times that he still loved his girlfriend and wanted to be with her, and that he was only letting things progress with Hazel because he "didn't know the status of the relationship". Which was apparently not true anyway.

It was really quite clear that Daley, to be blunt, just wanted to get his end away with Hazel. She made his winky expand. He looked at her like a Twin would look at a cheeseburger. To suggest that he had some sort of "deeper feelings" for her that she was exploiting is frankly madness.
