Thinking about this "girl code" business.
I agree to a degree but I also think it has a lot to do with insecurity.
Looking at Hazel and how gorgeous she is may represent a threat to some women, the fact that she will never enter their lives makes no difference she represents all gorgeous women. More fear of losing their man/boy to her than actual jealousy.
