Livia.. I agree it's a completely unacceptable word in any context... But surely quoting somebody can't be taken in the same context?

Ill admit I didn't know who Ron was when he went in... I asked Dave who he was and he said " oh he's that football guy, a racist bastard" . I said "racist? How?" . He replied "he called somebody a ******" both Dave and I are soo against racism/bigotry/any sort of prejudiced ****, so surely his comment to me couldn't have been taken as offensive ?
