People are going to talk about her age gap because it is an extreme age gap with one partner barely over the age of consent. That's somewhat different to a 10 year gap between adults where neither partner is anywhere near the age of consent.

Sophie seemed most annoyed by the girl's voice.

I didn't get the impression either of them are 'jealous' of her. baffled by her, maybe. Fascinated probably too. But jealous? Don't see it.

I think the idea that they could only possibly take against her out of jealousy is a bit of a cop out. relying on this myth that most older women are jealous of young girls. I don't buy it.
