They introduced this in Ireland years ago, seems to work quite well. Marks and Spencer have also charged for plastic bags (except the really small ones) in their food halls for a few years now.

They let the price creep up though as they do, it's 70c in Dunnes for a bag now, still though it does make you bring bags with you when you go shopping so I guess it's a good thing, just a bollox when you forget to bring them!

what for one light plastic bag! I always go out shopping without bags when I go home, here i keep mine in the boot so I don't forget. Will give Dunnes a swerve then for food shopping.
