Karl in a film is genius though.

Hairy Chinese kids

Old men eating a twix.

Absolute insanely brilliant.

Sort of, they're visual adaptions of their later podcasts. He's referring to these radio shows they did in the early noughties when Ricky and Karl first met, Karl was in his twenties then so even more daft than now:

No, they were the animated versions of the podcasts, but these were radio shows the 3 of them did from about 2001-2005 intermittently based around the recording of the office. It's before Karl became Karl.

Educating Ricky was my favourite, just where did he get some of those stories from? As were Karl's mum's point missing contributions to Rock Busters .

I've been working through them again over the last week as I do quite a bit of walking.

The 2 kids with massive heads and webbed fingers that went to his school, but weren't related or mates. Because it would have been obvious. The woman with a horse in her house. Stealing a tank for some fags. The list goes on.

It's a shame they didn't incorporate some stuff from them into a series 5 of The Ricky Gervais Show, they only included stuff from the podcasts, though there are some fan animated takes on them on YouTube that predate the HBO show.

Definitely got the Pilkington hairline, and there is a passing resemblance. Is there anything else other than them being swarthy Mancs that makes this plausible?

Didn't Karl say he's always in and out of prison these days?

Probably for the benefit fraud , and only the name (Mark Pilkington) and similarities (the hair line, the eye brow ridge, the mannerisms, hesitating before they swear and apologising before they diss people , moaning to themselves out loud), though out of the several Mark Pilkingtons Pilkipedia have looked when trying to find him, he fits best.

I didn't realise his name was Pilkington as well. Well that's the game changer then. It more than likely is then as well.

His dad stealing food from the phone box.

Putting the disabled kid in a wheelie bin.

Karl's reaction when he realised he'd just grassed on him on the radio .

Gays go out late.

So many classic moments. I absolutely love those radio shows, as you can hear it's all completely innocent and non-scripted. The podcasts were often recreations of the best bits with new classics, like "I could eat a nob at night".

Karl's naiveness in those days made for some amazing radio, and yeah, the dance remixes that spawned .

Watched the first episode of the series. I thought it was really good, and definitely better than idiot abroad. He just has such a weird way of looking at any situation, he comes out with stuff that most normal people wouldn't even consider.

Talking to that suitors parents was great TV, as was that feremone dating. When he just started blanking that woman he loads in common with, as soon as that attractive woman walked up.

Yup. As funny as Karl moaning is, his random musings are far funnier. I always preferred Steve's approach to Idiot to Ricky's for that reason.

I felt quite sorry for her, though chuffed for Karl that he still has it. Loved his insensitivity towards the mad woman who kept pestering him for not remember her smell when she approached him a second time.
