We didn't need him at Rangers tbf, Walter led us to 9IAR in the 90s, Ally destroyed Leeds in the battle of Britain and we could have won the European cup if it wasn't for the match fixing farce in 92/93. and soon after Walter good old AM won us the treble once again.

we let Fergie come and watch a few games though.

Ah the coulda woulda shouldov's eh?
Fact is if fergie went to rangers he would of buried Celtic and be more successful than Walter smith for sure.

And even before that 1992/3 you mentioned, fergie won a European cup with bloody Aberdeen! So he no doubt would of done Better things for rangers.
But don't worry, just take it step by step and Scottish premier league won't come long enough.

Walter is the reason Rangers are still a decade ahead of Celtic in league title success. not even fergie could have assembled a better team then the 9IAR winning team over 90's with the likes Gazza, Ally, Albertz, Hateley, Gattuso, Trever Steven.

Oh yeah and the cups Fergie won with Aberdeen was the cup winners cup and super cup.. not the actual European Cup which was rife with corruption in 92/93, totally different ball game fam.

Yeah i still count that as a great achievement.
Manchester United we won a cup winners cup early 90s (great finish by sparky)
But we count that as a European cup lol.
