Normally the first but my tree gets stripped and redecorated again and again if it doesn't look symmetrical, it actually cracks me up if I can't get it to look right and normally causes a silly argument because my OH will say 'that looks alright to me' when I know it doesnt.

That silly tree tiff has been part of our Christmas tradition for the past 15 years..

The way I see it, you have two choices, ditch the tree OR the OH!

It appears tradition has well and truly moved on.

I will be following fashion and getting hubby to get them out first week in December I think.
Ouside tree lights will hopefully be up for the end of November for someone's birthday
When we had our 7 ft tree I reckoned it took that long to dress it and then the bother of emptying it again that it needed at least 5 weeks on display.
We don't go overboard now but still like it to feel Christmassy for as long as possible.

Why would I want to ruin my walls and ceiling with pin holes, blu-tac, and tacky s**t?

..the last few years I've put it up quite late and after my Christmas break starts but this year I'm going to do it around the middle of December before my OH's birthday, which is what we always did when the boys were small...I always take it down around the day after Boxing Day though and hate the thought of going into the New Year with the 'old Christmas'....

Where I am at present, I will be putting the tree up and decorations around 2 weeks before Christmas and they will stay up until 5th/6th January too, since the 12 days of Christmas start on 25th December not end then..

At home however, the tradition has always been, my Parents get a big real tree, usually the week before Christmas, it is stood up but not decorated until Christmas Eve, when loads of the family place something on the tree as they have for decades past.
The time spent doing that is a great fun time and the togetherness it brings between us all just makes for a really very special time.

Get a real tree and will probably go out to get it mid-December sometime, when my brother and I are both back from uni

A real tree around the middle of December. Don't know why I bother as the highlight of Christmas for my cats is to demolish it every chance they get.

Usually a couple of weeks before Christmas when me and my sister are back from uni.
Plus we always get a real tree and any longer than that and it would look life-less by the 25th.
