Default Would you welcome Rangers and Celtic into English Football?

This forum needs football debate so fire away.

If plans were put in place to allow The two Scottish giants into football league 1 or 2 would you be in favour or against it.

I like Rangers but ultimately I would be against it. It wouldn't be fair on two teams who get displaced plus I don't think Celtic fans would be able to behave themselves playing in England.

Only if they came up with a new system that worked, i would much rather prefer a British Cup instead of the league cup where all Scottish and English league teams are involved, and it would make so much money for teams who desperately need it in Scotland and vice versa in England if League 2 sides got drawn against Rangers or Celtic away, Competitive matches like Rangers v Man United and Celtic v Liverpool for example would make so much money, and i can't imagine many people being against that if it replaces the League Cup and Scottish league cup

I've been in favour of a system similar to that. The league cup is a farce which is far too similar to the F.A cup without the excitement of non league teams.

I've always thought to make it regional up to a point and then north and South and then British wide to encourage higher end Scottish teams to get far in the competition.

For the Scottish clubs I imagine it would be better for their season to have the prospect of playing English giants.

I guess I wouldn't be totally against it since we've got Welsh teams in it.

Yeah, fans, players and the clubs are just becoming less and less interested in the carling cup as the years ago, The Swansea v Bradford final was a massive joke

it's a shame that Scottish football doesn't have anywhere near the same limelight as English football because there are so many good british youngsters breaking through at the minute, Gauld, MacLeod, Forrest, McKay, Mcgivern, Watt, Paterson, May and Armstrong

Celtic are welcome but last time I checked Inverness are currently the second best team in Scotland, so no to the team from League 1

That's only because Rangers are having to claw their way back,(unfairly in my view), to the Scottish Premier league though.
One more season after this one and Rangers will be back there.

I'm afraid Rangers won't be up to the test of the Dundee's and Livingston's of this world anymore Joey

I have confidence they will do it. The Scottish premier league needs Rangers in it.

Absolutely.

For all their bravado Celtic need to feed off the hatred these two clubs seem to have for each other.

The SPL is a farce this season even the most die hard Celtic fan probably miss it being more competitive.

Can't see Celtic really wanting to if they'll be missing out on guaranteed CL football and success

They would have to start down in League 2 as well, and I think they'd struggle to get out of the Championship

Is that a joke? I dont think those matches would be very competitive TBH.

This on paper is a great idea but logistically it too much for the leagues to try and achieve. I think it would be better for Scottish football but I dont think Ranger or Celtic would finish in the top half of the premiership.

Can't we just release Rangers fans in Manchester for 2 weekends a year and forget this silly idea?

Why do you think that? Would just make the Scottish leagues even worse surely by removing the only two teams of real strength and all the money they bring in

I thought the money the Old Firm made would somehow be use to help to less wealthy Scottish clubs? But even if it isnt, I dont think the two clubs should be punished cuz of geography when so many people think they are too big for their league

I think if Cardiff/Swansea can be in the PL then Scottish teams should be there too (good ones).

I'd go with the cup idea Novo said, maybe instead of the league cup

Thing is with the welsh teams they've been here for ages..I don't know how i feel about having the scottish teams in too, maybe if they started in league 2 or something, because that wouldn't be fair on other teams...but generally, no I wouldn't
