I think they're giving me retainers
but I don't think that'll fix my bite

oh you were in fixed braces? the retainer can be used to move teeth, (you get a little screw thing to tighten it)they will finish off the problem with the bite with the retainer, as it would be a big issue to make new fixed braces for just a few months?

hmm will they? if so then wouldn't they have taken off my braces earlier (it was only still there to fix the bite)

most people who have a fixed brace end up with a retainer. With yours they may use one that tightens so it finishes off the job, if I were you I would be inclined to go back with an adult (someone over 21 ) someone who will fight your corner kind of thing. You shouldn't have to go through years of this and then not have the job finished off properly.
