No joey, don't be an MP. Not only is it a thankless job, the money's crap compared to what someone like you could earn elsewhere.

I still hope to go for it one day arista.
I may never in all reality get very far and I do hate the party machine system of politics but the UK deserves far better Govt; PMs, Ministers,( and even lowly MPs which is all I would aspire to be really), than it has had for some time now. Less abuse of power and more respect for the people where that power comes from is what is needed from MP's right up to a PM. That shouldn't just be an idea it should be the norm. |

I reckon Joey could conquer some other field and then when he's late into his career he could stand as a politician and bring a wealth of experience to the table

What I am doing now as to work is enough for now but oddly enough it will likely be a help to me later on too as to moving into politics. It has been my aim now for so long,I never really believed years ago that by the time I hit 21,my politics would have crossed right over the political divide. The main thing I hate about politics is the party machine system. Really good MPs and really decent thinking ones too are in the main seen as only there to keep the party machine wheels rolling on and on. However if that is allowed to continue we will always only get at best fair Govt and more likely poor Govts. I really believe in consensus politics and in the House of Commons are a good majority across the board of MPs who never really get the chance to set the agenda. For me however, I can only support just, fair, compassionate and non discriminatory policies, that is why I cannot and would not support this present Coalition at all. The UK deserves massively better than it has had for the last 30+ years and indeed more. For me there is no need to keep dismantling what the previous Govt. does whena change of Govt. comes about, I don't see the point of wasting vast sums of funding on reforms that are not necessary. I am sick of the NHS and Education being used as a political football. There are so many ways that the functioning of Govt. could be done so much better and not have this nonsense of immature and pathetic nonsense that goes on at things like PMQs,which is,I believe, a massive turn off for most people. I know people in all 3 main parties, they near all feel the same,my hope is that more and more consensus politicians come forward in the future and for me that would be a the biggest political boost for the UK overall that there likely could be. I am one of those who believe and realise that the only way to possibly change something is to be 'in' it,sitting on the sidelines thinking and hoping for change is doomed to failure as I think you were outlining in your post above. The only chance to change things is from within not outside. Which is why for me, politics is so fascinating and also very challenging too. |
