^This. I have the same problem, cos in Scotland, Eoin seems to be Ian, but after about a year of knowing Iceman I realised his was pronounced Owen... Yet I still think of him as Ian.. :/

Eoin is pronounced like Owen.

The old Irish translation of "Owen" is actually Eoghan (just to confuse matters even more)
