Mr Rocket League
|
My all-time best Rangers team
Gk: Steve Simonson RB: Kirk broadfoot CB: Jean-Alan Boumsong CB: Bilel Moshni LB: Steven Smith (second spell) RM: Chris Burke CM: Kyle Hutton CM: Ian two-foot tackle Black LM: Greg Wylde CF: Filip Sebo CF: Jean-Claude Darcheville That's a right squad in the wonderfully successful archaic tried and tested 4-4-2. I challenge any team to have a crack at beating these. Last edited by Kyle; 14-04-2014 at 09:06 AM. |

Aberdeen's a one club city, St Johnstone have the Perth support, Inverness Caledonian Thistle for Inverness... even without Rangers in the league you still have quite a few teams from in and around Glasgow in the SPL - Celtic, Kilmarnock, Motherwell, Partick Thistle, St Mirren... what would be ideal is if Rangers return to the SPL but don't manage to get back to the all conquering level they used to be at because I think it was killing the league having Celtic and Rangers being a class above the rest. Great for the fans of those two teams but just very dull for everyone else. |

I'm not some conspiracy theorist but I think there were a lot of people whose careers depended very much on maintaining a fierce Glasgow derby that conquered the league and to no longer have that was critical for them. That's not a conspiracy or intended as one in any way, that's just a fact. It was a cup semi final against St Johnstone, we still pulled in an overwhelmingly large support for that game - the League Cup final game was full of Aberdeen fans, it was mental. Scotland's not a big place though, Glasgow's the only city that's even approaching 1 million people in and around the area so it's natural that Glasgow based clubs are going to have the largest support bases. One city clubs like Aberdeen and Inverness are likelier to have stronger supports than clubs from small towns or clubs from cities with more than one team. |

Look at the attendance of Rangers v Dundee United and then look at the attendance of Aberdeen and St Johnstone.. There is a 25,000 difference which is huge and frankly you can't tell me that they can afford to do that year in year out, 19,000 is just not good enough, Aberdeen should be getting more then that, there really isn't any excuse considering how many people turned up for that open bus parade

) is a good turnout; St Johnstone's support was tiny. Rangers and Celtic have such dedicated fans precisely because of all the success they've had - I don't really like the term 'glory hunter' but it's obvious why so many people are drawn towards those two teams - they play well, they win lots, they earn silverware, they can afford better players, play better football so they play well, they win lots, they earn silverware........... and for every other Scottish team's support, it gets a bit weary knowing that unless either or both of those teams has a rare **** up in a cup competition, the best they can hope for is to reach the latter stages of a cup competition to try and instigate some kind of excitement among the more casual fans and get attendance up.As for the open top bus - that was going through the city of Aberdeen and they'd already won it; of course a lot of people are going to turn out to see that - people from villages all around the city as well, it's an isolated part of Scotland so there are hundreds of people being drawn in from every direction as well as in the city itself. I think Aberdeen could have a really decent support base if we re-established ourselves as a successful team, at least we won the League Cup this year and we're hopefully going to finish 2nd. We were meant to be getting a new stadium, but as always, funding has been non-existent so nothing has changed. |

Nice 3-0 to start pre season, Class finish by Miller.. He will score them for fun this season, wouldn't surprise me to see Gasparatto break into the starting XI next season
