We'll struggle to make top four next season if Moyes is still boss. We could sign Messi and Ronaldo, it doesn't change the fact he's tactically inept.

Again, we were discussing if Liverpool had outspent United and I think they had.

I doubt if Arsenal will make it in to 4th spot too but I kind of hope we dont cuz then it will be viewed as a bad season and Wenger will probably spend about 100 million in August. Like he always does when he's under pressure but he decides to spend virtually nothing when he can argue that we've had a good season. This year having to admit he's got it wrong will hopefully jolt the old codger into action especially if we dont win the FA cup.

United have outspent us, and they used to outspend us every year as I was growing up watching united spend untold riches (which to be fair - they earned themselves) and clean up the silverware. There has been a balancing over the last few years as the glazers haven't spent, united received a transfer world record for cristiano, and we had new owners that rather misplaced a lot of money with the king and Commoli.

I'm not bleating - it's a lot closer than I thought it would be. Having whiskey nose in charge enabled them to not have to build 3/4 different teams for different managers every 4 years. We've wasted a lot of money - you'd never get an honest Liverpool fan say otherwise. We also have spent our own money, and we were also propping up american owners. We've found ourselves in a mess at different times, and even before Rafa came there was no "Big 4", it was a "big 3", so rafa had to build a new squad, with lots of turnover of players for relatively small money.

It's all if's buts and maybe's anyway, as Houllier had a deal for Ronaldo before united, but Liverpool refused to pay his agent £1m to sign him, and Rafa had a deal wrapped up for Aguero before Atletico, but Parry wouldn't pay the £14m for such a young player.

Footie is a game of fine margins, and ours is a club that's been racked with incompetence, sometimes at the top, sometimes at the bottom, and often at both.

So the table tells us that Liverpool have spent more, but sold more to have a lower net spend. I said that Liverpool have outspent us, but sold a lot due to poor players being bought in in fairness

Don't get me wrong as much as I may hate Liverpool they are at least spending money off their own revenue not due to some big money owner and I can respect them a lot more than City or Chelsea for example. You also said it yourself..look how close the Purchasing,Selling and Net spend is between us and then in comparison to the difference in revenues which I believe is around 200m to 400m+.

Sales is all part of what any club spend. It's basic maths. I think there needs to be quantifiers added to that figure as well. Take ROy Keane who cost £3.75m - that was as much as 8 clubs (including Liverpool and Arsenal) spent in that season. Rio Ferdinand for £30m in 01/02/03 is not worth the same as today.

I'm not disputing the figures, but like I said - we've caught you up over the last few years because you've hardly spent anything, and we pissed a load of cash up the wall.

We were spending £7-10m each season, at the same time you were spunking 30m on Veron, so it can never be accounted for, but our spending is a result of more money floating around the game generally these days.

Carra was getting abused at Munich airport the other night by a load of mancs, all chanting "you scouse bastard", "we hate scousers", and "build a bonfire".

He turned round and said "it's no wonder Rooney doesn't want to ******ing play for you".

That 'you Scouse b@stard' is so ridiculous. I remember just a few weeks back in the United - Liverpool game they were chanting it at Gerrard whilst Rooney was trying to win the ball back from him.

Football fans acting like blinkered idiots (all fans - not just united/Liverpool) is hardly the shock of the century.

Manchester United have dismissed reports linking the club with Holland manager Louis van Gaal.
Reports have claimed United representatives, including one of the Glazer family who own the club, have met with the former Ajax, Barcelona and Bayern Munich coach.

Desperately hope we're dismissing it in public, but really have contacted him. One can dream.

Fully expect Moyes to still be in the job come the start of next season. Another wank campaign.

Great sig, btw Jesus.

He's going to get a really hostile reception tomorrow, which is a shame. As **** as he has been for us, he did save Everton really and you would think they would be alot more grateful.

A bit more grateful. However, they never progressed under him. No wonder they were glad to get shot of him. He got them to where they are, but didn't have the bottle to go any further. 'effin goblin loser.

He took a team set for relegation with little financial resources and broke the top 4 and cemented top 6 places for them. Without him there is every chance Everton are in the lower leagues and irrelevant. Yeah he won nothing, but he transformed the club. For all the praise Martinez gets...if he took Everton when Moyes did he probably relegates them.

It's embarrassing how so many Everton fans think they are greater than him now and seem to mock him.

He did a great job. His time was up though. Never was going to take the club forward as philosophy never allowed for it. Yet Fergie and Charlton thought he could take us forward, pmsl.

I doubt that, and if he does it will be tongue in cheek.

The Everton fans are a knowledgeable bunch and appreciate everything Moyes did for them.

This is "The Moyesyside derby"

I thought the general consensus was Everton fans hugely disliked him due to the BS he spouted over the summer regarding Baines and Fellaini and the whole contract saga.

They also chanted 'You're getting sacked in the morning' after the win in December.

They dislike him because he dared to try sign some of his former players...while they raided Wigan for Martinez former players.

Think it was more to the following:

Quote:
Asked on Friday if he had sympathy for Martinez, Moyes said: ‘I definitely do. But I also know that if I was the Everton manager and Sir Alex had come asking for Baines and Fellaini, I would have found it very difficult to keep them.

'I always felt the right thing to do was what was right for the players.
Despite the previous summer refusing to let Baines join us and the Lescott saga.

Once said at Everton:

“I think it’s correct to assume they’re trying to destabilise us because we are rivals. I think other football clubs should not talk about players from others clubs in the media. If you do that, you are destabilising the player or the club. I would hope I don’t do that.

Such hypocrisy. The guy is just a twat and full of shat.

You listen to to much of the off-field media circus and take it as gospel.
