Nirvana are probably the most overrated band in history. I missed all the hysteria around them, but most of their material is average - especially when compared to their contemporaries like Dinosaur Jr.

Seems as though hardly anyone would remember them if they didn't have teen spirit in their back catalogue - and that's a s**t song too.

Smells like Teen Spirit isn't even their best song, Lithium and Heart Shaped box are. They're definitely not over rated

Difference of opinion - I've listened to all of their stuff and they don't really interest me, so they are overrated as far as I'm concerned, but obviously not in your opinion. They just weren't great, and they definitely don't have a collection of great songs - which is the minimum I'd expect from such an iconic band.

Well they only made 3 studio albums and imo they have some really great songs in there especially on Nevermind, I guess the fact that Kurt shot himself in the head helped with keeping them iconic in peoples minds but they were top of the grunge genre as well before Kurt died but anyway I guess it's all subjective really
