Back to the discussion, I think most of the features proposed should be added, except the ones that literally divide forum members by giving VIPs their own sections or giving them the 'more important' title than others.
I'll PM you in the morning.

Tom, I think I speak for the rest of the forum when I say: chill the **** out. Every god damn thread you're throwing tantrums lately. Just think before you post and stop reacting to every alternative standpoint as if they're belittling you or trying to ruin the forum.

The amount of reaching in here, countless forums have these features in place and there is absolutely no way that separation occurs because of it, people thinking so must be insecure over their place on the forum or something?

The idea is both beneficial to the forum itself and the user who donates, anyone suggesting elitism must look back at post counts and see no one really gives a **** what their "number" is

This thread

For me I'm against the whole VIP vibe as divisions will be created for sure and superiority will be magnified

But if people wish to donate to a forum then go for it

I don't believe that the owner is funding this site out of his own pocket year on year. For the minimal amount of interest he shows in it, it doesn't make sense that he would just keep throwing money down the drain to keep it running. He'll be making at least a majority of his money back somewhere along the line.

I won't pay extra, but if people want to pay for some extra features then there's no reason to have a problem with that, I suppose.

You'll also have the potential conflict of interest when it comes to giving long bans to paying members, which could cause more hassle than it's worth. The site is either full of "which fm do you love most" in a variety of different disguises, or "which flawless pop bitch is going to slay/shade another fierce pop bitch with a black person picture", so charge away, but the fundamental issue here, as always, is going to be attracting and keeping new members.

That has got to be one of the most ironic posts on the forum.

Have a look at Tom's, Jessica's and your own posts on this thread before you claim 'civility'.

I agree. Maybe some members think they'll be untouchable if they starting 'contributing'

I think the point Jesus made should be addressed a little more.

Can we as a forum be assured that if ever a dispute arises between a 'V.I.P' and a 'regular member' that there will be no vested interest in trying to keep the paying members sated at the expense of the rest?

Like I said if you decide to implement the system I won't lost any sleep over it I am just one of many and I will still use the forum but I will voice concerns that funnily enough a fair few other members seem to share.

I don't see how that would happen. Everyone knows the rules. If you break them continuously then you get banned. People get warnings before a ban is put in place. If you're stupid enough to ignore the warnings then it's your own doing.

To be clear, I don't think it's plausible that any dispute involving a vip vs non-paying would be decided by the benjamins.

Vote on the Poll.

Do you wish to pay a monthly fee of perhaps 2.00, to be a Premium member and have some (at the moment undefined) extras, perhaps a bigger Avatar, a coloured forum name or similar.

It would create an 'us and them' atmosphere I think, just look at how post count is used as a gauge of how important a member you are? If you paid too that would be magnified I think.

There was google advertising on the forum that I guess helped a little towards costs, that's not been active for quite a while now and that's the only monetary source that's been on the forum, you don't have to believe it but it's true.

Also regarding the issues with bannings/warning etc, members that made a donation wouldn't be treated any differently from someone that hadn't, if someone breaks a forum rule then they get dealt with.. not sure why anyone would think paying a a few pence donation would change that, donations are optional, no one forces people to pay them.

Infractions are private. If you see a paid up member break the rules nobody will be any the wiser if they have been punished or not unless they are outright banned or they get taken over the limit. It would be in the interest of the forum to do what they can to make sure they can keep people that pay on board unless they have no choice.

And I've gotten away with breaking the rules on occasion. I called someone a clown a few months back on a thread and never even got a warning never mind a ban. I would like to think that the reason was nobody saw it but it was a pretty active thread. I've said less than that to some of the more 'popular' members of the forum and being infracted within mere minutes in the past.
