I think she has a point, but not the point she's trying to make. People would react completely differently if it was a mother on benefits, they would have far less sympathy, they probably wouldn't even try to understand. They'd dismiss her as human trash. And that's really sad. Especially considering the fact that many of those addicted people on council estates have had far more tragic lives than Peaches did... The sort of lives, and especially childhoods, that most of us can't even begin to imagine in our nightmares.
So she has a point - people are hypocrites. But in the sense that they should sympathise with those "benefits junkie mums" too, and be horrified by the society that has created them. Not in the sense that they should simply condemn Peaches along with them.
