I prefer the story of the British Airways flight attendant who was accosted by a South African woman, who complained loudly that she didn't want to sit next to a black man. The flight attendant said she'd do what she could. When she came back she told the woman the captain agreed it was unacceptable that she should sit next to this man through the whole flight while there was space in first class, turned to the black man and said "would you like to follow me, sir?"
