Producers want the 29-year-old, nicknamed Squeaky because of his high voice, for his comedy value.

On the Channel 4 show, he comes across as an overgrown wimp as he sits on the sofa with his loudmouth mum Linda and stepdad Pete McGarry at their home in Clacton-on-Sea, Essex.

Word leaked yesterday that he had been called for a meeting with CBB bosses to agree a deal. A researcher on the show posted a message for George with his travel details.

A telly source said: “Ever since the new series of Gogglebox, fans have been calling on Channel 5 to grab one of them for Celebrity Big Brother.

“George would be the butt of all jokes, but he has the good humour to take it well.”

Last night Channel 5 declined to comment on the rumours. An insider on the hit show said: “The line-up has not yet been finalised.”

No, I still enjoy Gogglebox. If they all started appearing everywhere as though they think they're celebrities like Towie or something I'll start to hate them.

I don't think gogglebox people should go in, they just all seem
normal people and are never in the press or anything. I don't consider them celebrity's just people from a show. A bit like contestants from a quiz show. It's different if there from x. Factor of those sort of shows.

Yeah I agree, they suit regular BB but not celebrity one. The show hasn't made them out to be celebirtys.

People like Steph, Dom, Leon and June, they're celebrities in my eye as they are the stars of one of the most successful shows on at the moment.

George on the other hand (along with people such as Scarlett Moffat's parents, the Michael's daughter, the vicars husband and the German guys stepdaughter) are all background characters as far as I'm concerned

So given the standard of celebrity we're used to it's the "background characters" that will do CBB.
