If every politician wasn't up to the job because they made a gaffe or error even, then no one would or should be elected to Parliament in the first place.
Equally so with leaders,if being perfect and 100% correct in everything you say and do is evidence of comeptence then we have never had such a leader,likely ever.

I agree but it's never about just getting the odd name wrong, it's more about public perception of the politician and how electable they appear.
If they are error or gaffe prone their electabilty suffers as a result.
My fear for Mr Miliband is that he is fighting a war on two fronts, he already has the problem with his speech and stammer/stutter. So to start making gaffes like the one yesterday really diminishes the perception of him as Prime Minister material in many people's minds.
